Introduction of Fixed Payment Notices for Non-Compliance

“The EPA expects to commence issuing Fixed Payment Notices for non-compliant EEE and/or Battery Producers and Retailers as of Autumn 2018.

Fixed Payment Notices are newly available to the EPA and Local Authorities and aim to assist in the enforcement of both the WEEE and Battery Regulations. Not only will the introduction of FPNs provide an efficient means for enforcing legal obligations, but it will improve targeting of non-compliant operators, thereby ensuring a ‘level playing field’ across sectors. The amounts associated with relevant offences range from €500 to €2,000 per offence.
